Xbox 360 Pro w/ HDMI @ Buy.com 339.99 + Free Shipping + No Tax + 2 Games + Falcon Motherboard

October 14, 2007 · 1 Comment

Ok the Falcon part is just pure speculation. However, sources are claiming on xbox.com forums that the recent bundle for the Xbo 360 Pro System now touts the 65nm chipset.

“I got a Pro system bundle with MUA and Forza2. Has HDMI. Lot 736 manufacture date of 9/6/07. Team FDOU, S/N starts with 613. black DC brushless fans, BenQ drive”

“Looking inside there is no copper pipe, just a gap in between the black capacitors. My wife and I took awhile trying to take decent pics of it. We can see inside clearly but its hard to translate it with a camera. Sorry if they are too blurry or hard to make out”

Comparing these images with the images released for the Special Edition Halo Xbox 360 it is confirmed that it is certainly a 65nm console. I’m glad to see that at least some of the new bundle packs have 65nm.

Now other reports are saying that some people have the same Lot 736 w/ HDMI but it is not the falcon motherboard. So here is to hoping that yours will ship with the new Falcon boards.

Sony’s PlayStation 3 firmware 2.0 scheduled for October 30, 2007

October 12, 2007 · 2 Comments

The cat was let out of the bag a few days ago by some BRD insiders that left tips on a few forums about a firmware update that will allow the PS3 to support interactivity functionality 1.1. It appears that a new firmware is in fact coming. With a scheduled release of October 30, 2007 PS3 owners will see firmware 2.0. Sony’s website confirms that a new firmware is coming and with all the buzz going around it seems pretty accurate that these rumors are true.

It has also been rumored that a new firmware will be released that improves DVD upscaling.’ From Spanish gaming site MeriStation published an interview with James Armstrong, who’s CEO of Sony Spain. While chatting, Armstrong revealed that the new 40GB PS3 (hitting stores as you read this) will ship with updated firmware which will improve the PS3’s DVD playback quality.’

So one might want to assume that the new firmware that will ship on the new 40 gigs later this month will contain firmware 2.0 fully loaded with features that support web interactivity and improved DVD playback. Heres to crossing our fingers.

This would make perfect sense considering all Blu-ray players released after October 31, 2007 have been mandated by the Blu-ray Disc Association to support Profile 1.1.

Good News for PS3 I purchased one!

October 4, 2007 · 3 Comments

I felt compelled to buy a PS3 at a 20% discount. I was able to purchase the $599, 80 gig system for $479+10.95 shipping charge. I was not one of the lucky ones who got the HDMI premium Xbox 360 for 280 shipped! This would of been even better!

Still it is a pretty substantial savings IMO. Now the unit isn’t in my hands yet but that hasnt stopped me from researching what I will need and some ideas that I use it for.

Now that i have a PS3 im going to need a new HDTV. This is something that i have been preaching about to people and consulting for quite some time but when it deals with your own money you want to be the best possible set that one can afford.

Since the PS3 has HDMI 1.3a I will have to find a TV that supports this new feature. Plus get a cable that supports the higher bandwidth that the 1.3a requires. I will most likely shop at monoprice.com

The two TV manufactures that i will look at are Panasonic and Pioneer.   Off to check which TV touts the newest HDMI connections.
