PDP-5000EX Pioneer’s 50 inch 1080p Plasma Pro – My dream TV

March 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Pioneer late on Friday upgraded its pro plasma line with the PDP-5000EX. Pioneer PDP-5000EX provides fine detail and accurate color for the entire range of high definition signals including 720p, 1080i and 1080p. The design signals the first 50-inch display in the US from Pioneer to manage a 1080p native resolution thanks to smaller cells and better light control: accordingly, the screen comes with DVI/HDMI inputs that support HDCP.

What separates it from most plasmas is its refresh rate of 72Hz, the combination of this speed with a cleaner and higher-contrast image is ideal for pro video editors. The Pioneer PDP-5000EX will be available this spring with pricing to be announced.

Diggnation goes Corporate

March 19, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Well I’ve been a fan of diggnation for quite some time now and i usually don’t catch the new shows the day they are released but i did however notice that diggnation created a members only area. I know that this isn’t news to everyone but i just wanted to make a point and provide a solution. For the revision team to conjour such an idea to charge its fans for “early” showing of diggnation to help the sponsors is just plain ridiculous.

Here is a letter from Jay on the forums about the early releases of diggnation:

To those who have been discussing the pre-releasing of videos to non-members on the forums, let me be clear on this subject:

Besides the fact that I myself have repeated over and over that pre-releasing to non-members hurts Revision3 directly, and that we believe that doing this is the opposite of showing support for the show, it should also be known that Kevin and Alex wish this to stop as well.

Some have cited Alex and Kevin’s references to pirating in the show as proof that they think pre-releasing Diggnation or other Revision3 content is acceptable. This is not the case. The bottom line is that they wish to both protect Revision3’s revenues as well as the people who are paying a monthly fee to enjoy Diggnation two days early. They want to support their fans, and to do so they have always believed this activity was wrong.

They do believe that the sharing of Diggnation videos after it has been publicly released each week is fine, especially if download stats are provided to us. I agree, particularly since we think that Diggnation is something worth sharing. The only issue is during the pre-release window of two days (and I emphasize, this is _two days_). Remember, if people download videos from us directly, we get to report those download counts to advertisers, which help us bring in the revenues to continue making quality programming.

Anyone who uses Kevin and Alex’s name or tries to use their comments out of context to support pre-releasing videos is basically insulting Kevin, Alex, and Revision3.

I have asked the mods to enforce this as much as possible in the forums and ban anyone who posts links or makes references to websites that promote this activity. Please let them do their job effectively, and for those who keep saying that “Kevin and Alex think it is ok,” please stop putting words in Kevin and Alex’s mouths.

Thanks,

-Jay and the Revision3 Crew

My response is simple Alex & Kevin don’t be such hippocrates. Regardless of any opinion I have or anyone else has about pirating content, it’s a double standard to talk about using bittorrent for movies, etc. and then attack people sharing Diggnation episodes 2 days early. More times in the past epesodes have i seen and heard both Kevin and Alex talk about content they have downloaded. For example Windows Vista, or Alex’s favorite Battlestar Galactica.

So i present to you my solution. Since i’m an avid xbox user i will create a xbmc script that will allow you to download the latest show to your xbox once it is released. Starting today i will be developing it.

March 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

If your wanting to find free Mp3s using Google or just find free Music using Google look no farther. Their are various variations that seem to work: Below are some examples. I’m not responsible for what you download. Just wanted to share the knowledge that one can get from just simply searching the Internet.

{-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “DIGG”}

{-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(ogg|mp3|wma|m4a|aac) “DIGG”}

{-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(ogg|mp3|wma|m4a|aac) “Used To”+”Daughtry”}

Other Methods to try would be:

{intitle:index.of “mp3″ +”An Arms race”+”Fall out Boys” -htm -html -php -asp “Last Modified”}

{intitle:index.of “mp3″ +”last night”+”diddy” -htm -html -php -asp “Last Modified”}

{intitle:index.of “mp3″ +”last night”+-htm -html -php -asp “Last Modified”}

Or maybe your wanting to see a video?

{-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(avi|mpg) “George Bush”}

La Fonera Hacked Again. 0.7.2 Firmware is hackable

March 14, 2007 · 16 Comments

Kolofonium is the new hack for La Fonera routers with 0.7.2 firmware loaded to enable SSH. It is described in detail at Stefan’s website.

The hack is really simple: All one must do is login to your La Fonera and change the nameserver (DNS) of your La Fonera to 88.198.165.155 and reboot. What this does is allow Stefan’s website to send the hack back to your router for you. Meaning you don’t really have to do a thing. After the router reboots you should be able to connect via SSH. This should work with other firmwares, too so please leave feedback. Please change the nameserver according to your ISP or network setup after the reboot.

Working on latest firmware release 0.7.1-2.

To enable just do the following:

  1. connect to web interface of la fonera via “My place”
  2. change the dns to 88.198.165.155
  3. reboot la fonera
  4. Download Putty and Connect via ssh access
  5. change the DNS entry once logged in to the one of your choice ( I suggest OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 )

If you are not familiar with OpenDNS i suggest you go to www.opendns.com I just added it to all my routers :) its very simple and saves time.

Internal Blu-ray / HD DVD drive for PCs

March 14, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Who has 1200 bucks for a new burner, i mean dvd player, oo no thats not it , i meant a Blu-ray/ HD DVD player for your pc? According to CDRinfo and the projected price is roughly $1200. Hitachi-LG plans to demonstrate the GGW-H10N ‘Super Multi Blue’ drive at CeBIT 2007 show in mid-March. Don’t expect to pick one of these guys up just yet because their is no word on the final release date. The Hitachi-LG GGW-H10N drive can read, record and re-write CDs and DVDs (10x speed for DVD±R, 8x for DVD±RW, 6x/8x for DVD±R DL) as well as playback, read and record single- and dual-layer Blu-ray discs (4x or 3.5x speed), it also can playback HD DVDs. The device is designed for Serial ATA interface. The GGW-H10N can record up to 50GB of data. Surpassing the market standard, LG is providing a 4x recording speed of Blu-ray Discs, which means that it takes only 23-24 minutes to burn a full single layer BD-R disc (25GB), compared with 46-47 minutes for conventional 2x recording. As for me i will just wait. Who really needs ol Blu, when you can get a 500 gig external drive for 150 bucks?

PS3 PlayStation Home

March 7, 2007 · Leave a Comment

What more could you want from a PS3 besides BluRay and Gaming. Well Sony seems to think that PS Home is it. Its a mix between Second Life and a MMO. The seeming-MMO even includes casual games such as pool, movie theaters, bowling and arcade machines embedded into the world, but at any time you can invite a fellow resident to join in on any PlayStation Network-capable game. Hmm which gives me idea that maybe their is money to be made? Selling Ads or Robbing people?

Off Subject but worth mentioning Ford Ads Vs Toyota

March 3, 2007 · Leave a Comment

All i have to say is i’m enjoying the new Ads that Toyota has for the Tundra are great. They really have done a good job to show that Toyota is going after the truck market and isn’t backing down.

Now Ford is not backing down and has gotten Mike Rowen from “Dirty Jobs” to do some Truck Ads with Ford showing that Ford is the truck of choice for “True” truckers needs.

Have a great look at the videos

AnyDVD HD now with Blu-Ray support

March 3, 2007 · 1 Comment

ntigua, West Indies – March, 7th 2007

AnyDVD HD now with Blu-Ray support

Not even four weeks have gone by since the release of AnyDVD HD,
a software for circumventing the copy protection provision of
the new DVD format “HD-DVD”. Now SlySoft announces a new version
of AnyDVD HD which now also supports the authoritative, SONY-developed
Blu-Ray(BD) format. And, by the way, the Blu-Ray related regional codes
also get removed.

AnyDVD HD costs 79 USD. An upgrade from AnyDVD to AnyDVD HD is available
for 30 USD.

Since the Blu-Ray functions were integrated into AnyDVD HD
there will be no separate “BD” version of the software.

Giancarlo Bettini, CEO at SlySoft: “Since it was our firm conviction
that the first copyable format would prevail in the end, our original
intention was actually to support only HD-DVD. However, since the
introduction of AnyDVD HD we have received so many customer inquiries
about Blu-Ray that we simply couldn’t close our eyes to this wish.”

James Wong, an AnyDVD developer:”SONY will see this with a mixed bag
of sentiments. On the one hand, Blu-Ray is now equally copyable and on
the other hand the market share deck of cards gets reshuffled”.
